MANILA, Philippines - Veteran fashion designer Inno Sotto has been tasked to design “a simple cheap wedding dresses” for TV host and Valenzuela City councilor Shalani Soledad, who will tie the knot with Pasig Rep. Roman Romulo on January 22.
This is in keeping with the couple’s decision to have a “simple and private” wedding ceremony to be held in a church in Cavite, in light of the recent flooding in Northern Mindanao, which has claimed the lives of more than 1,200 people.
“Shalani's wedding gown will be soft, delicate and simple with minimal beading- suggestive of her personality,” Sotto said. “Very feminine, she didn't want anything fussy--it's her!”
Another fashion designer, Dennis Lustico, has been tasked to do the wedding dresses of the bridal entourage.
The couple decided to do some “cost-cutting” for the wedding and will instead donate part of the wedding budget to the victims of tropical storm Sendong in Northern Mindanao. Soledad and Romulo spent Christmas in the hard-hit city of Cagayan de Oro to help the flood victims.
The couple said they are also still deciding to push through with their honeymoon in Rome, Italy.
Romulo said they decided not to grant exclusive media coverage for the wedding, although one of the wedding sponsors is telco executive Manuel V. Pangilinan.
Other sponsors include Sen. Panfilo Lacson, Foreign Secretary Albert del Rosario and Las Pinas Rep. Cynthia Villar.
According to the couple, they immediately fell in love with the St. Benedict Church in Silang, Cavite and immediately booked the venue for their wedding.
